Case Studies
Preparing future leaders is vital for any organization. Successful companies attract, develop and retain the right people. By systematically identifying and developing talent deep into the organization, succession planning becomes embedded in the management process.
Success Story: A publicly traded Energy company
Goal: Uniform process for identification and focused development for key talent.
Challenges: This effort was started to prepare for a pending acquisition. At the beginning of the process, two business units within the company were managed separately, and neither business unit, nor the company, had a specific process for succession planning. The organization recognized the need to create and execute a meaningful succession plan, and the Board of Directors was in full support of the effort.
Solution: The business units each embarked on a succession planning effort to identify the top talent within each unit that should be developed for future leadership positions. TLP guided each unit through the process, identifying key leaders that would be essential to the company post-acquisition.
Result: Between the two company units, five employees were identified as high-potentials, and those leaders are being groomed for larger roles within the new company.
